RETURN: COME BACK TO YOURSELF

September often rushes in with energy focused on the “back to’s…”- back to school, back to work, back to routines, and back to responsibilities. During this time, we may find ourselves spending time focusing on productivity and neglect an important item of self-care: coming back to ourselves.
This month, Walters Wellness Group (WWG) invites you to slow down and ask,
“What does it mean to come back to myself”?
So, as you continue to reset for the fall, think about what might have gotten lost during the busyness of the summer and where do I need more rest, grounding, connection, or simply space to breathe? In our efforts to get back to everything else, we may not notice that our own systems are asking for attention. Changes in sleep, increased irritability, feeling overwhelmed, difficulty concentrating, or simply feeling “off” can be invitations to pause and notice what we need.
We are reminded that the brain is shaped by repetition and that small intentional self-care practices including grounding and mindfulness can help us reset and reconnect with ourselves. Remember “somatosensory hug”? This simple, yet rewarding grounding skill, can offer a moment to pause, reflect, settle the nervous system and help you return to the self.
So, this September, before rushing back to everything else, make some space to come back to yourself.
Over the fall months, and as the year comes to a close, we will focus on the theme of “Coming Home to Yourself”, a reflection of our 2026 theme, “I am Enough”.
Fondly,
Dr. C
